There are times when local restaurants and businesses seem to vanish overnight. They close up shop with little warning and even less explanation. It can be a sad day for fans, especially when they roll up to the restaurant, expecting something tasty, only to discover they will never again be able to walk through the front doors (at least under the same ownership). That is exactly what happened late last week as a local restaurant and market here in Tucson closed its doors for the final time, without informing anyone, or even making an announcement on its social media.

Sito’s Fresh Market has been serving up all kinds of goodies for the last year or so. Whether you wanted to pick up some spices, tortillas, and other goodies for at-home use, or you wanted to enjoy freshly made menudo, tacos, breakfast burritos, or hot off-the-grill chicken, Sito’s Fresh Market had you covered. It was one of the few places in town where you could order a Mexican restaurant quality meal as well as grab all the seasonings and goodies you need for cooking at home. You could even order combination plates, offering you everything from chile relleno to tamales and all kinds of sides. And yet, the restaurant and market has now closed up shop.

There was little warning this might happen. The restaurant did not inform anyone of its impending decision to close, and its Instagram page was active up until a week ago, when its last post went live on October 28. In fact, the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce tagged Sito’s Fresh Market for taking part in its annual gala just yesterday, which is after the restaurant closed.

Located at 2545 East Speedway Blvd (Suite 115), Sito’s Fresh Market was well regarded in the community, with a 4.7 Yelp rating and a 4.9 on Google. All of the current online ordering websites and services are still functioning, but the order will not be processed or completed, so do not attempt to place an order using the market’s own ordering platform, or through other websites like Uber Eats. You will only end up frustrated and hungry.

Perhaps more information will become available in the coming weeks, but for now, the shop will remain closed. If any updates are given on the restaurant and market, and whether it plans to reopen in the future, we will provide you with the information when it is available.
