It has been all quiet over at Noble Hops over the past several weeks. The restaurant’s social media presence all but went silent, and events at the restaurant faded to nothing. Things are a bit cleaner now though as the 445 South Alvernon Way Reid Park location has officially closed its doors for good.
The original Noble Hops, tucked away in Oro Valley, first opened bacon in 2011 and continues to go strong. After a decade of business, a second location was launched to help give Tucson residents easier access. Swooping in right at the tail end of the pandemic allowed Noble Hops to take advantage of recently vacated restaurant space. However, after just two years, the restaurant is no more.
According to management, Noble Hops and the owner of the building were unable to come to a new lease agreement (the landlord wanted to significantly increase the cost of rent, and Noble Hops was not willing to agree to such a large jump). With margins for restaurants already tight, putting aside a sizeable increase in rent, with food costs already surging, did not prove financially feasible, and, as such, has led to the restaurant’s closure. Noble Hops did not bring much attention to this closure, and it quietly removed reference to the second location from its website (although the dated Facebook page does remain up for the time being).
For fans of the Tucson-based Noble Hops, the Oro Valley restaurant remains open. Located at 1335 West Lambert Lane, it is open Sunday through Thursday from 11 AM until 9 PM and Friday and Saturday from 11 AM until 10 PM. The restaurant has daily happy hour prices from 4 to 6 PM, with $5 margaritas and sangrias, $4 rotating feature pints, $5 house wines, and the cocktail of the day runs for $7.
The restaurant does offer an eclectic offering of food. The starter's menu includes pub pretzels, crispy cauliflower, chef’s hummus, a brewer’s board (which features various meats, crackers, and cheeses), plus pub nachos. For anyone hungry for something a bit more substantial, they can choose from a chicken sandwich, jam burger, Old Pueblo burger, fish and chips, and they can even end their meal with a slice of carrot cake.
Noble Hops is part of the JAM Culinary Concepts group, which, in addition to owning the remaining Noble Hops, also owns The Still, and Vero Amore Authentic Neopolitan Pizza.
