There is no shortage of chicken restaurants opening up around metro Phoenix. Whether in wing or sandwich form, these things have been popping up like weeds over the last few years. Just in the previous month alone, there have been several California chicken transplants opening their doors, in addition to others from the Midwest. Most of the restaurants tend to offer something similar, with the only real difference being the decor and the breading used on the chicken. There’s a reason chicken sandwiches are growing in popularity, but it is a breath of fresh air when one delivers unique flavors and a new twist on the classic dish. Thankfully, that is precisely what has happened with a brand-new chicken restaurant. 

ChickII is the latest addition to the world of chicken sandwiches in the Valley. However, this Glendale location leans hard into its Thai flavors. It uses Thai spices in order to bring a different kind of spicy goodness to the world of fried chicken. If you love the spicy taste of Thai food and the unique blend of seasonings used by the Southeast Asian nation, and you’re a fan of chicken sandwiches but are tired of the same old-same old offering, ChickII is the place for you. 

The restaurant is very simple and straight to the point. First, you select your combo, which includes chicken tenders, a chicken sandwich, rice bowl, or ChickII fries. While ordering, you will pick both your spice level as well as the sauce. Thai food has an entirely different level of spiciness that few other cuisines can compete with, so keep this in mind. The spice levels are mild, medium, hot, and extra hot. The sauce options are the house ChikII, soy glaze, peanut, yellow kare, green kare, and honey orange. As for beverages, you have the standard Coke products, or you can opt for one of the homemade lemonades and Thai teas. Offered “snacks” include ChickII nuggets, fries, and soft-serve ice cream (including a Thai tea ice cream).

You can also order chicken wings with the available sauces and spice levels.

If you are interested in giving this new entry into the world of chicken sandwiches a try, it is located at 20260 North 58th Avenue in Glendale. Flies in Bread, Possible Contamination at Local Restaurants

Over the past week, hundreds of local restaurants around greater Phoenix received their annual health inspections. Nearly all of these restaurants passed, many with flying colors. The brand must maintain its image, and as such, location managers and workers follow very specific cleaning requirements. However, with that said, one chain restaurant in metro Phoenix performed especially poorly on their annual inspection, resulting in a D grade.
