Tired of the same old taco joints? Been to your favorite local stomps more times than you can count and now you’re craving something new? Well, in Tucson all you have to do is click your heels together three times and a new taco joint appears. And earlier in the week someone must have done just that, as a new taco and beer restaurant has officially opened, serving up all the tacos and beers you can eat and drink (responsibly, of course).
On Tuesday, May 23, Street Taco & Beer Company opened its latest location over at 8898 East Tanque Verde Road. This is close to the intersection of Bear Canyon. This is officially the fourth location for the local chain, and if you’ve been to the other restaurants in the past, you already know what to expect upon arrival. The other restaurants have won various “Best of Tucson” awards in recent years, so there is a nice following for Street Tacos & Beer Company.
The restaurant markets itself as a fast-casual restaurant, but really it is more in line with your standard Subway or Chipotle while also serving beer. You get up to the front, place your order, walk down the food line, and request whatever toppings to your tacos you’d like.
Everything is pretty straightforward, which makes crafting your perfect finger food that much easier. You can opt for tacos and your choice of proteins and toppings, or you can go for a burrito, tortas, nachos, quesadillas, and a handful of other options. The ability to mix and match your ingredients in order to craft the perfect taco is a nice touch. Far too many joints around town have the taco ingredients pre-selected, and trying to remove certain ingredients in exchange for others is often more trouble than it's worth. But with Street Taco & Beer Company, everything is how you want it.
Not everything has been ironed out yet with the new location over on East Tanque Verde Road. The hours of operation have not yet been updated, and the different locations around town all have their own hours, so it is difficult to forecast exactly how long the restaurant will remain open into the evening. The West Congress Street location, for example, is open from 11 AM until 7 PM, while the Oro Valley location is open until 9 PM. So, the best way to make sure it is open is to head on over for an early dinner. New hours of operation should be made available soon.
