Looking for a way to jumpstart your morning? Need some extra energy to drag you until the finish line of work? Perhaps in search of a quick meal prior to a rec soccer game or Tuesday evening softball? If so, you don’t want to sink your gut to the ground with heavy carbs. You’re more liable to curl up in the back seat of your car and nap than anything else. Instead, you may want something that is bursting with vitamins and minerals, with energy packed into every ingredient. Thankfully, a new restaurant here in Tucson is opening to offer you exactly this.
The acai berry has been dubbed as a super fruit. With the majority of acai berries coming from Brazil, the hefty caloric berry is packed with nutrients and the kind of energy needed to get you through the day. It’s also the kind of berry utilized by Vitality Bowls Superfood Cafe, a restaurant that has moved into Tucson for the very first time.
The very first Vitality Bowls first opened in San Ramon, California, back in 2011. Prior to this, Tara and Roy Gilad discovered their daughter had serious allergies to much of the food given to her, so they needed a way to keep their daughter healthy while avoiding many of the negative byproducts found in processed food within the United States. Through research, and some trial and error, they came up with the dietary concept that would eventually become Vitality Bowls. A healthy means to both nourish their daughter and keep her full as well. When the very first Vitality Bowls opened, it became a smash hit, and since that very first California location, the chain has gone on to open over 100 restaurants around the country.
The Tucson-area restaurant, which is set to open on Friday, May 19, will be located at 2959 North Swan Road. This is in the Synergy Plaza, which is where East Fort Lowell Road bisects Swan.
There’s an extensive menu offered at Vitality Bowl, and you’ll receive a complete nutrition rundown of the menu items inside the restaurant. Many of the bowls you can build and customize yourself. The Vitality Bowl, for example, comes with a base blend of organic acai berries, VB Blend, bananas, and strawberries. You can then add on granola, honey, more bananas and strawberries, and goji berries. There are nearly a dozen different bowls, plus several salads, including the Supergree Goddess Salad, which features super greens, chicken, egg, avocado, radish, cucumber, Green Goddess Dressing, feta cheese, mint, and Superseed Crunch sprinkled on top. You’ll also find sandwiches, wraps, and some of the brightest smoothies you’ve ever seen (when combining raspberry and mango, you’re going to end up with a beautiful color).
