Carving a thick slice of Detroit-style pizza? Not in the mood to deal with knockoffs, but instead want the real deal? A specially crafted, rectangular slice of pizza, baked in the motor city, with crispy edges from where cheese and butter are baked along the side of the crust? If so, you are in luck, as a Detroit-based pizza chain is expanding its footprint in metro Phoenix with its fourth location.
Jet’s Pizza first opened its doors in Sterling Heights, Michigan, back in 1978. Brothers John and Eugene Jett served up pizza in the Detroit suburb until 1992 when the brothers brought on two cousins and changed the name to Jet’s Pizza. Since the very first pizza joint opened 45 years ago the chain has continued to expand throughout the United States. This includes metro Phoenix.
At Jet’s Pizza, you will find the classic Detroit-style pizza. One of the most popular pizzas though is the company’s 8-corner pizza, where every slice of pizza you grab will be a corner piece.
While the Detroit-style pizza has grown as more than just a trend outside of the Great Lakes state, Jet’s own pizza is not a copycat from other Detroit-style pizza makers (including Buddy’s Pizza, which is credited for having invented the unique style). Instead, the Jett brothers used a family recipe passed down from their mother upon opening their first restaurant in 1978. This is the same recipe you can enjoy whenever you stop by one of the four locations around the Valley, including the newest restaurant in Tempe.
Beyond Detroit-Style pizza, you can find other pizza and menu offerings at Jet’s. This includes a hand-tossed round pizza, thin crust, New York style, gluten-free, as well as seasoned cauliflower pizza. Looking for something else besides pizza? You can also try the assortment of breadsticks, wings, salads, and calzones.
The Tempe location can be found at 1835 East Guadalupe Road. It is open Monday through Thursday from 11 AM until 9 PM, on Friday and Saturday, from 11 AM until 10 PM, and on Sunday from 12 PM until 9 PM.
For anyone that is looking to either try out Jet’s Pizza for the very first time or who is simply looking to score a great deal, there will be a special ribbon-cutting ceremony outside of the restaurant this coming Saturday. Throughout the rest of the day, the restaurant will offer its four-corner pizza along with one topping for just $2.99
