For those around greater Phoenix who enjoy eating at vegan and vegetarian-based restaurants, there isn’t exactly an abundance of options out there. While one might come and go every so often, plant-based eaters will find a rather limited selection in the Valley. Thankfully, local restaurant owners who have already launched one successful plant-based restaurant are at it again and are opening a second vegan and mocktail bar right in Phoenix.

Goji Berry Cafe brings a 100 percent plant-based menu to guests who want to avoid meat and meat-based products in their diet. At other restaurants around town, it isn’t always possible to know for sure whether a vegan menu item is actually vegan, as there have been plenty of instances where ingredients such as sauces contain fish-based elements. That will not be the case at Goji Berry Cafe, where every single item used in every single menu offering will not only be completely vegan, but organic, and gluten-free.

The restaurant is the second Keyla Aguilar has opened in the Valley. Earth, a vegan restaurant that focuses on crafting Mexican-based menu items using entirely vegan ingredients opened back in 2019. The restaurant proved successful as residents from all over greater Phoenix came out in order to enjoy quality, vegan menu items that even meat-eaters could enjoy.

For guests interested in something lighter and fruity, there is an assortment of acai bowls and smoothies, including the Almond Butter Bowl, the Malibu Bowl, and the Very Berry Bowl, which uses organic, fair trade acai topped with strawberries, bananas, blueberries, goji berries, chia seeds, agave, and granola. As for salads, the menu includes a Fresh Pasta Salad, Caesar Salad (with a house-made dressing), and a Roasted Beet Salad. Looking for something more substantial, there are paninis, like the Cuban Panini, the Pesto Panini, and the Classic Grilled Cheese (which uses vegan gouda and sharp cheddar), plus the sandwiches can be paired with sides like tomato soup and house potato salad.

At the restaurants, guests will also find a wide range of mocktails (vegan cocktails without alcohol), coffees, plus house ice creams. All of the house ice creams are made in-house, and there will be a rotating selection of flavors to choose from. On top of this, there are pastries like key lime stack cake, brownies, cinnamon rolls, and fruit tarts.

Goji Berry Cafe is now open at 1325 Grand Avenue (Suite 8) and is open Monday through Friday, from 7 AM until 9 PM, and on Saturday and Sunday, from 9 AM until 9 PM.
