For most of the year, Tucson sandwich chain eegee’s has made restaurant news for its push into metro Phoenix. However, it is not the only chain slinging sandwiches that has eyes on pushing into the Valley market. One California chain recently opened several restaurants in the area and continues to expand its presence around greater Phoenix.
Ike’s Love & Sandwiches opened its first restaurant in San Francisco in 2007, although it went by Ike’s Place. The restaurant shop took off thanks to its Dutch Crunch bread as well as its “Dirty Sauce.” As the restaurant started to expand it made sure to keep every restaurant unique, which is why every single Ike’s Love & Sandwiches restaurant offers signature, unique sandwiches for each location, and these sandwiches are not available at any other shop.
Since its opening in 2007, the restaurant chain has expanded throughout California and can now be found in Colorado, Nevada, Texas, Utah, and Arizona. All of the restaurant’s locations in Arizona are centered around Phoenix, including shops in Avondale, Glendale, Scottsdale, Tempe, and Mesa. And now, the chain is launching a new location in Peoria. The restaurant chain wants to prevent the push from other sandwich shops (such as Arizona resident eegee’s) from muscling it out of the market, which is why Ike’s Love & Sandwiches has bold plans for metro Phoenix. Residents of the Valley should be prepared to see a number of additional Ike’s restaurants spring up in the coming months.
The Peoria location can be found at 7635 West Bell Road (Suite 2020A). It is open for delivery, dine-in, and patio dining and is open seven days a week, from 10 AM until 9:30 PM. While the restaurant is now open at the Arrowhead Shopping Center, the grand opening celebration will take place on Friday, July 22. During the grand opening celebration, founder Ike Shehadeh will be on hand to hand out free t-shirts (to the first 50 people), and reward members will be able to nab $6 sandwiches throughout the day.
As with all other Ike’s Love & Sandwiches locations, the new Peoria location will have two signature sandwiches. The first is the Change of Pace sandwich, which features fried chicken, bacon, BBQ sauce, and Swiss cheese. There will also be a vegetarian version of the sandwich, which uses vegan fried chicken, purple slaw, BBQ sauce, and an American cheese. The signature sandwiches are now currently available.
