Celebrities are known to endorse a product or two. Just about every commercial on television has some kind of celebrity hawking one item or another. However, these celebs are not putting their own money behind the products. That is why a new spicy chicken sandwich restaurant coming to town is different. It isn’t paying celebrities to endorse their food. Instead, the fast-casual restaurant is backed by some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry.

Dave’s Hot Chicken originally started out as a $900 stand set up on an East Hollywood parking lot. A group of four friends focused on creating spicy chicken. Paired off with some crinkle-cut fries, the goal was simple: to serve the best fried chicken on the planet.

In just a few nights' time, the little stand drew the attention of crowds and, eventually, celebrities. Individuals like Drake and Samuel L. Jackson fell in love with the food and immediately wanted to invest because they believed the food to be too good to be left in a parking lot. And now, in the five years since the launch of the small parking lot stand, the brand has opened in select cities across the United States. This includes destinations like Indianapolis, Houston, Detroit, and Las Vegas. And now, it is making its official launch in Arizona with a new restaurant in Gilbert.

Tucked onto the corner of Baseline and Stapley, Dave’s Hot Chicken will take over the former Burger King. Extensive renovation will take place to update the look of the restaurant and bring it up to par with the other Dave’s Hot Chickens scattered around the United States. However, it shouldn’t take long for the location to be open and serving juicy Nashville-style chicken sandwiches.

The menu is small and to the point. There’s a 2 Tenders With Fries option, a 2 Chicken Slides With Fries option, and a 1 Tender and 1 Slider With Fries option. Of course, you can mix and match and add more sandwiches if you want, but that’s the extent of the menu. There are different levels of spice too. It begins with no spice, moves up to lite mild, mild, medium, hot, extra hot, and Reaper is the hottest. Menu sides include fries, cheese fries, kale slaw, and mac and cheese (or you can swap out a slide for a single slider or tender). Soft drinks and milkshakes will also be on sale when visiting Dave’s Hot Chicken.
