There are some days when nothing hits the spot like a well-made hot dog. There’s just something about the combination of meat and bun that isn’t like anything else. It’s easy to dress the dog up however you like, and if you really wanted to you’d have no problem chowing through numerous hot dogs in one sitting. It’s a favorite addition to cookouts everywhere and a 4th of July staple. But what if you don’t feel like firing up the grill? Smokey Joe’s Hot Dogs has you covered.

Smokey Joe’s Hot Dogs has plans for a unique hot dog eating experience. The restaurant has plans on setting up a shipping container restaurant in Peoria.

Shipping containers are not necessarily less expensive to install over a more traditional build, as it still requires all the insulation and utility work, but it does speed up the build time significantly. Framing for any construction is what takes the longest, and with a shipping container, the framing is almost fully taken care of.

With the new Peoria Smokey Joe’s Hot Dogs location, guests will be able to chow down on an assortment of goodies. Of course, there’s the classic hot dog, but Smokey Joe’s Hot Dogs is more than just dogs. Entire BBQ rack of ribs are available, as is chili, crinkle fries, specialty tortilla wraps, and a number of other menu items. It’s really just a few corn-on-the-cobs short of a fully 4th of July cookout.

The new Smokey Joe’s Hot Dogs will have outdoor eating, or guests can order their food and take it home with them. Of course, for anyone taking their food home, it might be a good idea to order a driving hot dog, otherwise, there might not be any food left by the time they get back to the house.

Currently, the container restaurant is under review from the city of Peoria. The restaurant owners are ready to move forward and want to open up to the public, but until the city approves the restaurant, there isn’t much they can do about it, and there’s no indication as to when approval might come. Because the building is not a traditional setup, it has caused some hiccups with the city for one reason or another (despite there being a number of container restaurants throughout Phoenix). As of now, the best way to stay on top of when the restaurant is set to open is to follow Smokey Joe’s Hot Dogs Facebook page
