Despite struggles with staffing, a local food chain has opened a new location here in town. Chompie’s has been serving up deli sandwiches in The Valley since 1979, and the dedication to its New York style of sandwiches will continue, thanks to the 13th location now open.

Located at the intersection of 32nd Street and Cactus Road, the restaurant will continue offering the same sandwiches fans have come to expect from the local chain. The new location is opening despite problems with other locations struggling to keep employees on. One location in Tempe had to slash its hours during ASU’s winter break, while other locations are seeing employees working overtime on top of 40 hours per week.

Chompie’s chief operating officer, Oren Molovinsky, has said Chompie’s plans on opening additional locations throughout The Valley in the coming months, despite the worker shortage that has not only hit the food and beverage industry but many of the Chompie’s locations as well. The worker shortage was blamed on high school and college students not wanting to work in restaurants any longer.

The local chain is hiring for nearly all positions, and according to its Workstream hiring board, it has a total of 44 open position titles, ranging from an experienced baker to cake decorator. However, none of the listings have the salary or benefits included (most of the listings are empty). For anyone interested in a job with the chain, there is ample opportunity, both at the new location and at many of the other locations operating in The Valley. For anyone interested in applying for a position (or who is simply curious how much the positions pay, as the company is not providing these details), all of the current job openings are listed here.

Chompie’s first opened up shop in town back in 1979 and has expanded upon the food it offers to visitors of the restaurant. While it labels itself as a New York-style deli, it has much more than this, including an expansive breakfast menu, pastries, plus freshly baked bread and bagels

For anyone interested in checking out the new location, the address is 3212 East Cactus Road in Phoenix. It is open Sunday through Thursday from 6 AM until 9 PM. On Friday and Saturday, the restaurant remains open from 6 AM until 11 PM. The restaurant does provide dine-in service as well as pick-up orders as well. Pick-up orders can be placed directly through Chompie’s website.
