The sale of a popular shopping center in town promises to bring new stores and eating opportunities for patrons in the community.
The shopping center located at the intersection of Craycroft Road and Broadway here in Tucson never had an official name. It simply was a collection of stores gathered around a parking lot. However, the recent sale of the entire center has already proven ripe with new opportunities for incoming businesses.
Larsen Baker recently purchased the entire 86,500 square foot shopping center through its Broadway Investment Group LLC affiliate for $14.9 million. The current tenants will not be affected by the purchase, but some minor renovations are planned, including the addition of two new drive-through buildings.
In addition to the new drive-through locations (tenants have not yet been announced, but with many restaurants now turning to the benefits of drive-through windows, there’s a large net of potential with these buildings), a Starbucks will open, as well as a new restaurant.
Sherwood Cabinets and Davis Kitchens will move into the space that has sat vacant for years since the closing of Toys R Us. These showrooms have plans on opening up in January. Then, for the motorcycle enthusiasts out there, Cycle Gear has plans on opening later on next year. Cycle Gear will be 9,000 square feet of motorcycle accessories. Thanks to the constant sunshine and dry weather here in Tucson (and around the state), Arizona has more year-round motorcycle riders than nearly every other state in the country.
Whereas the former shopping center didn’t have a name tagged to it, the new center will be known as Broadway Crossing. Signs for the newly branded shopping center will go up shortly, with the Starbucks grand opening coming right around the corner as well.
Current tenants for the shopping center, which is on the northwest corner of the intersection (there is another shopping center on the southeast corner as well), include Jimmy John’s, Petco, COX Store, Mattress Firm, and Sleep Number. It is also right next to the DoubleTree Suites Hilton Hotel.
For any future announcements associated with the shopping center, including which new stores are planned on moving in and what the newly minted restaurants will be (there’s already a BJ’s Restaurant & Brewery and Olive Garden across the street), make sure to keep it here for those announcements, which should arrive shortly after the holidays have come and gone.
