Popular Canadian Restaurant Coming To Tucson

Greyson F

Restaurants have been a bit slower to pop up over the last year here in Tucson. Normally you would see several dozen, if not more, restaurants coming into the community every year, but the COVID-19 pandemic made that difficult. Some openings continued ahead due to planning and the inability to change launch dates, but for the most part, new restaurants that don’t have any affiliation with other Tucson restaurants (such as Eegee’s opening new locations) have been few and far between.

All of that is set to change.

Several new restaurants are coming to greater Tucson, including one that brings with it a breath of fresh, cold air. Snakes & Lattes is a Toronto, Canada-based restaurant that will be opening here on Main Gate Square in April.

For the snowbirds coming from Canada, this may offer something familiar, but if you’re not from Toronto or even the neighboring states in Michigan (with Detroit being a short drive from Toronto) the offerings may be completely new to you, which is good news. There’s always room here in Tucson for something new.

American Apparel left a large vacant space at 988 East University Blvd, but the space hasn’t been open for long. Snakes & Lattes, which is a name based on the classic Snakes and Ladders game, will open its third location here in the United States right here next to the U of A. The very first opened up in Tempe close to Arizona State, and then the second popped up in Chicago. As it already has a location nearby in metro Phoenix Snakes & Lattes should be up and running nicely here in town (as a number of the managers may be trained in Tempe before shifting over to Tucson).

What should you expect from this restaurant? Well, the reason the name is based on the old kid's Snakes and Ladders game is because this restaurant is basically the king of board games. In fact, there will be over 3,000 games to choose from, so chances are, if there is a game you want to play, you’ll find it here. Classics, modern twists, card games, old favorites you played as a kid but then the cardboard box broke and you lost some of the key pieces, whatever game you like, chances are it will be here.

Beyond the extremely large assortment of games, you will also find a wide selection of beverages and food options. If you were to stop by the Arizona State location you’d find there are several wines, a fine draft beer selection, signature cocktails, and of course coffee. And then, as for food, you’ll find a more jazzed-up version of traditional bar food, with flatbread pizza, burgers, a number of wraps, salads, and more.

If you are interested in a job the restaurant will be hiring both part-time and full-time positions. With the restaurant opening in April hiring is currently taking place. If you’re interested in a full-time position now is the perfect time to apply as, if you’re able to, you may be able to train in the Tempe location for a number of days, which will help you hit the ground running. Whatever you’re looking for though, from a server position to chef, to bartender, or if you are willing to do anything and everything, they are hiring.

You can visit Snakesandlattes.com for all of the latest information. A complete game library will be listed shortly. If you do want to apply you can visit the website, or you can send your resume to tucson@snakesandlattes.com. Make sure to include the positions you’re applying for and your availability.
