AVON, CO - Avon is a small community of around 7,500 people located along Interstate 70, approximately three hours west of Denver. For all-around adventure seekers, the area provides year-round recreation opportunities as well as convenient access to some of the state's most spectacular vistas, national parks, and untouched wilderness areas.

Here are things you can do in Avon:

  • Benchmark Lake Reservoir

The Benchmark Lake Reservoir and dam, just minutes from downtown Avon, is a popular summertime swimming, kayaking, and sunbathing attraction.

The reservoir is also home to a variety of gamefish such as bass, trout, and perch, making it a popular destination for anglers in the area. Though the lake is most populated when the weather is sunny and pleasant, fishing might be greatest when the weather is windy, cloudy, and cold.

  • Walking Mountains Science Center

Walking Mountains Science Center has been characterized as a true jewel and a world-class experience by previous visitors, especially for such a small town.

  • EagleVail Golf Course

EagleVail Golf Course was opened in the 1970s, and today has both a standard 18-hole and a 9-hole par three course.

  • Northside Kitchen

They're known for their freshly baked pastries, thick breakfast burritos, and steaming hot coffee, and they get a lot of business from early risers looking to fuel up before a long day in the forest.

  • The Christie Lodge

The Christie Lodge, which is located in downtown Avon, is an excellent alternative for travelers who don't want to stay in a generic national chain motel.

  • Nottingham Lake & Beach

Nottingham Lake & Beach is in a league of their own for outdoorsy types with limited time and moderate vacation budgets due to their convenience and variety of activity alternatives.
