Lamont School of Music: The Show Must Go On

DENVER, CO - Lamont School of Music thrives amidst the pandemic by reinventing how they teach, learn, perform, and rehearse. Lamont streamed 230 concerts, recitals, master classes, and events throughout the pandemic.

The next performance will be held on Sunday, August 15. The Summer Carrilon Recital will feature Jeff Davis, the University of California Berkeley's carillonneur.

Another event that is worth noticing is the next Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Solo Competition. The school has announced the finalist of the live competition. The event will be held on October 1-2, 2021 at Lamont School of Music, Hamilton Recital Hall, Newman Center.

There are six performing six finalists are Brandon Choi (Astoria, NY), Joey Curreri (Marina del Rey, CA), Austin Ford (Austin, TX), Giveton Gelin (New York, NY), David Sneider (Hartsdale, NY), and Oriol Vallès Lopez (Barcelona, Spain).

Carmine Caruso International Jazz Trumpet Solo Competition is the most prestigious competition for Jazz Trumpeters dedicated to Carmine Caruso, one of the world's greatest brass teachers.

The live competition round will feature Jon Faddis, Terell Stafford, and the Grammy Award-Winning Trumpeter/Composer Michael Rodriguez as judges and Vince DiMartino as the guest artist.

To keep the audiences and performers safe during the pandemic, the Newman Center is temporarily closed for visitors. The school also has announced that they will announce the fall 2021 concert as soon as the university has finalized the protocols for attendance.

Collaborating with the University of Denver COVID Response team and aerosol scientist, Lamont addressed safety protocols, such as air circulation upgrades, social distancing, surface cleaning, abbreviated rehearsal, and shortened performance.
