See her dream come true!
Rose, a three-year-old from Mobile, Alabama had one wish for her third birthday - to be Spiderman. That's when her mother, Diamond Jackson, an incredible photographer, and owner of Rae's Bleu Rose Photography decided to make her dream come true and transform her daughter into a superhero all while taking incredible photos.
Jackson made the conscious decision to make sure that her daughter's afro-puff hairstyle was on display in all of the photos because she wanted to make sure that she raised her children to be proud of their natural hair. Representation matters and it's so important for all children to love the skin that they are in and to know that anything is possible.
Jackson published the photos on her Facebook account and to her surprise, they went viral at an incredibly fast pace. So many people were astonished and inspired by her photos and the representation that her daughter showed to other young, Black girls her age.
Jackson explained to CBS42, “I’ve had photos go viral before, but not like this, this one is different. I didn’t expect this at all.” She had thousands of messages come through to her Facebook about the photos, praising her incredible and inclusive photography skills. She hopes that other people will be inspired and that, of course, it brings her business some extra revenue.
