A fatal incident occurred tonight on State Route 57 (SR-57) southbound, just south of Imperial Highway East Onramp in Brea, leaving one person dead and triggering a temporary road closure.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) responded to reports around 10:54 PM, where multiple vehicles had come to a halt to inspect the situation. According to witnesses, a motorcyclist was found lying in the middle lanes. Emergency services were immediately dispatched to the scene.

Tragically, the rider succumbed to their injuries. The identity of the deceased has not been released pending notification of family.

The aftermath of the incident resulted in further complications, as an object in the roadway was reportedly run over by passing vehicles. A white BMW X3, involved in a collision with the motorcycle, came to rest on the right shoulder.

As a result of the incident, CHP has issued a SigAlert, closing the southbound lanes just south of Imperial Highway for an estimated two hours. Caltrans has been requested for a hard closure to manage the closure effectively.

The Orange County Coroner's Office has been notified and will be on the scene to handle the transportation of the deceased.
