During our first trip to Seattle, my girlfriend's friend took us to Discovery Park for a hike and it was a sight to behold. The trails are well-kept and nicely shaded under the forest treetops. There were ferns galore lining the trails...we kept calling it "Ferngully". Lol, There are also some nice elevation changes and some streams along the way to the shores of the Pacific Ocean.
The shore area was beautiful with lots of driftwood and views of boats and Alaskan cruise ships heading up north. We were hoping to catch a glimpse of some whales, harbor seals, or any sort of marine life, but alas we were left disappointed. Maybe we were just there during the wrong time of year?
Our round trip hike was over 4 miles and I could've kept going, but our time was limited and we still had a lot to see in Seattle. I'm not sure how many miles of trails there were, but I'll definitely be sure to check them out next time I'm in town.
