(ATLANTA, Ga.) City Schools of Decatur is recommending students and staff to wear masks as COVID-19 cases rise.
The schools have seen an uptick in cases over the past two weeks but cannot fully implement wearing a mask due to the new mask mandate in Georgia.
In a letter sent to the school community on Wednesday, Superintendent Maggie Fehrman said “As we can see, COVID is a disease we will continue to live with and as we see spikes in our community, we must continue to adjust our mitigation strategies accordingly.”
The district reported 56 cases of COVID-19 last week — its second-highest weekly count this academic year, the Atlanta Journal Constitution reported.
Decatur’s last day of school is May 27.
