(ATLANTA, Ga.) A new guaranteed income program in Georgia is working to help more than 650 Black women across the state.
As of Monday, the In Her Hands initiative began accepting applications to give more than 650 Black women $850 a month over the next two years.
The first site the initiative will focus on is Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward neighborhood. During the first round of benefits, 220 participants will be selected to receive funds.
Eligibility requirements include:
- Women 18 years or older (inclusive of transgender women and non-binary individuals)
- Must have been impacted by COVID-19
- Live within the community site map (Old Fourth Ward)
- Make less than or equal to two times the federal poverty line
Applications will stay open until May 15 at 11:59 p.m.
