This is an update from the original post: A new virtual reality experience is coming to Atlanta Beltline this summer
(ATLANTA, Ga.) Atlanta’s virtual reality scene is expanding with the Illuminarium. The first VR experience is set to launch on July 1st and will take guests on a safari through Africa.
While the daytime experience is anticipated, Illuminarium has more in store for night owls or those simply wanting a new adventure after work (and those who absolutely despise rush hour traffic during the day.)
Also opening on July 1st is The Bar at Illuminarium. The venue describes it as an “unprecedented nightlife and hospitality experience after dark,” according to a press release.
The Bar will transport guests to another land (virtually, of course) with the help of seven digital settings and canvases. The settings include a Japanese night market that features glowing lights and lanterns, colored fish and reefs that will provide the ultimate experience underwater and cosmic clouds that take you to outer space.
“The Bar at Illuminarium is the first-ever immersive nightlife environment. We designed the space to complement the truly unprecedented entertainment experience that is Illuminarium,” David Rockwell, Founder and President of Rockwell Group, said in a press release. “Stunning and ever-changing digital worlds will transport guests to far-flung, surreal destinations through sight, sound, and scale.”
Each canvas is made up of video, laser projection and individualized surround sound.
So, what’s on the menu? The Bar will serve up a tapas-style menu, cocktails, beer and wine from 8 pm to midnight on Thursdays through Saturdays.
Throughout the week, the venue will operate a full-service restaurant at the Illuminarium Cafe which is open seven days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The cafe will provide both indoor and outdoor dining options.
