The other day Tripp and I went on a little adventure to help give back to our community. If you have been around awhile you know I love showcasing ways to help others especially within the local community. When given the opportunity to partner with RITZ on their Lunch Goes On campaign I jumped at the chance to be involved. I am really excited to also get Tripp involved to help show him ways that he can help support those in our community in need.
How are they helping?
Did you know that millions of kids depend on meals at school? There are so many reasons why school is essential. One that always stands out to me is the fact that for kids facing food insecurity, school lunch may be their only meal of the day. The unknowns of school over the last year means kids need other options for a good meal. That’s why RITZ is partnering with Feeding America in the month of March and donating $.10 for every RITZ brand product purchased at Walmart from 3/1-3/31. Because no child should face the stigma of hunger. Learn more about the initiative here: bit.ly/3bMF4Y8
The pandemic could result in 1 in 4 children facing food insecurity. Food Banks have reported an increase in demand of 59% since the pandemic has started. On top of that Texas just experienced a major weather situation that put even more families in danger.
I thought what better way to show Tripp an easy way to give back is to shop for one of his favorite snacks (RITZ) and take them to our local food fridge. I also explained to him how we could run a virtual food drive with our local food bank if we wanted to. Taking him on this adventure really opened the door for discussions. He started asking so many more things about our community. Especially, how to help those in need.
We also brought a pack home and made a favorite snack to continue our discussion about healthy meals and snacks for kids. Tripp was asking a lot of great questions and I enjoyed getting to share a little way that we can help give back to our community.
Our favorite RITZ snack:
-RITZ Cracker
-Smear with Peanut Butter
-Add a slice of banana
How will you give back to ensure “Lunch Goes On”?
XOXO, Gabbing Ginger
