Born and raised in Sicily, Chef Giampiero began his love affair with food at a young age. He and his sister used to wake to the sweet aroma of marinara cooking and bread baking. It was then that Giampiero began learning secret family recipes & understanding how to treat ingredients. As he got older he continued his culinary education in renown restaurants in Italy & England.
Not long after, he moved to Southern California where he met his wife Lynn, with whom he set out to open Il Tramonto in Old Temecula. Il Tramonto quickly gained local reverence for its unique authentic Italian cuisine and warm family staff. Despite their years of success and oustanding reviews, Giampiero and Lynn were unfortunately forced to close their restaurant doors due to the pandemic – like so many other restaurant owners in the US.
After making this hard decision, they found out about a new opportunity offered in Riverside County allowing them to legally continue serving their food to the community, but this time from their home kitchen. This allowed them to keep doing what they love without having to deal with the steep costs that come with running a brick and mortar restaurant. They eventually applied for permitting, passed their County inspection, and were successfully able to open their new home-based business called Osteria Scoperta, open for takeout 2-4 times a week. This offers people flexibile & accessible economic opportunity while providing them with a stepping stone into the traditional restaurant business. All home-based restaurants on Foodnome are inspected & permitted by the Health Department and are Food Safety Manager certified.
