We can all agree that 2020 has been an extremely hard year for many people and businesses. Not to mention, with a new year, it looks like 2021 will undergo another major lockdown as well. It has been difficult for many people to adjust, not to mention for many small businesses. Walnut Creek is a lovely city and I while staying safe practicing social distancing, I am always on the lookout for ways to stay active and not be cooped up in my house all the time. I think this is a good way to support local community and businesses! Here are a few lists of activities and things I enjoy doing when I visit Walnut Creek, CA. Activities like these can be enjoyed by all! These are some of my favorite things to do:

I enjoy my time at Heather Farm in Walnut Creek because the park has so much to offer! It’s a great place for being active outdoors like running, swimming (maybe be closed due to COVID), playing softball, and even biking. If you enjoy the out doors and want to spend time with family outdoors, there are picnic areas offered at this park as well! I also enjoy bringing my dog here as there is a friendly off leash dog park here. It’s a very lively park that has so much to offer. Remember to always check amenities and practice safe social distancing when visiting.

After your visit at Heather Farm Park, be sure to check out the local plaza across the street for some food and snacks after your long day of fun at the park! Some of the places I have enjoyed eating at are Mooyah for some delicious and juicy burgers and crispy fries. Yalla Mediterranean for their healthy and light Mediterranean bowls and dishes. And if you love to just have a quick bite try T4 for their boba and popcorn chicken!

After you’ve made your visit to Heather Farm Park, be sure to swing by Ruth Bancroft Garden because you won’t regret it! If you are a plant lover like myself, you definitely would love to check out Ruth Bancroft Garden and Nursery! There are so many things you can do while visiting this gem of a place in Walnut Creek. From weddings, to photography, to learning about different garden plants, this place is a fun out door destination for you and a loved one! This garden is huge! Over 2.5 acres of beautiful landscaped plants growing here and there are always different seasonal plants growing here that is worth checking out. They also have events like their night lights that took place in December! General admission starts only at $10 and is FREE for children 12 years and under.

Downtown Walnut Creek has so much to offer! From fine eateries, activities, and shopping, you name it! This spot has it all!

Shopping: fulfill all of your shopping needs. The Broadway Plaza in Walnut Creek is filled with shops, to name a few: Nordstrom, Macy’s, Neiman Marcus, and Zara to name a few. Because this shopping center is located outdoors, it is very refreshing and a nice change of pace if you’re looking for a day out.

Dining: There are so many different types of cuisine offered in downtown Walnut Creek. If you are interested in healthy options, there is True Food Kitchen and Boudin Bakery. If you want a quick bite, there is Slice House for delicious pizza slices as well! After shopping, you might interest yourself in having appetizers and a drink at Rooftop or Teleferic Barcelona.

Dessert: If you love dessert after eating lunch or dinner, walk around downtown Walnut Creek until you reach Lottie’s Creamery for some of the best homemade ice cream flavors! Or if you would like to grab a quick boba drink, give Sinceretea or Mr. Green Bubble a try!

I always enjoy my time at the Walnut Creek Farmers Market because all year around, they have a wide selection of goods and it is always a fun time when you visit! There is a range of different produce offered here and I love their offerings of different flower bouquets when it is in season. Not to mention, I must not forget the baked goodies, fresh seafood, and even their local honey that is being sold here are extremely tasty as well. Trust me when I say, you won’t leave Walnut Creek Farmers Market empty handed.

Walnut Creek Farmers Market is open every Sunday from 9AM-1PM. You can come here by public transit, walking, biking, because it is conveniently located in a central location. Also, when it comes to parking, Grower’s Square offers “first hour FREE” parking for Walnut Creek Farmers Market customers on Sunday, so that’s a steal as well!
