The UCONN Huskies men's basketball team made history in 84-64 win over New Hampshire on Monday! The No.4 UConn men's basketball team (7-0) has made history with an 84 - 64 victory over the New Hampshire Wildcats (4-3) on Monday night at Gampel Pavilion, on the campus of the University of Connecticut in Storrs, Connecticut. According to the UCONN Huskies official website ''The win was UConn's 24th- straight victory over a non-conference opponent by double-figures, setting a new NCAA record for such a streak. Donovan Clingan(Bristol, Connecticut) scored a career-high 29 points on 12-of-13 shooting and Tristen Newton (El Paso, Texas) posted a 17-point, 10-rebound double-double to lead the Huskies in the win.''
''UConn was able to overcome a cold shooting night from distance by scoring 52 points in the paint and out-rebounding New Hampshire by 21. With the score tied 8-8 early, UConn ripped off a 16-0 run that took nearly seven minutes of game time to build a big early advantage. The Wildcats used eight first half 3-pointers to stay within striking distance, but UConn was still able to take a 45-30 advantage to the break.''
Head Coach Dan Hurley speaks on the final result "Thought we played really well… they're a sneaky tough team to play against because of the playing five out and the center is a tremendous 3-point shooter. Obviously disappointed in the last 10 minutes – [they] were excruciating." The Huskies pushed their lead to as many as 28 midway through the second half. New Hampshire continued to impress from the 3-point line and prevented the lead from growing beyond that in the eventual 20-point victory.'' The Huskies will hit the road for a date with No. 5 Kansas in the BIG EAST - Big 12 Battle. Tip-off from Allen Fieldhouse on Friday, Dec. 1 is set for 9 p.m. ET.
