It's Fall in New England folks, so that means ''Pie Season'' is officially here! So, where can you get the best, fresh homemade pumpkin pies in Connecticut? I have found three places that have been raved about over many years. If you are a Pumpkin Pie lover then you will want to keep reading. "Quality is our most precious ingredient" is the slogan of Oronoque Farms in Shelton, Connecticut. The history of the company reflects their hard work and dedication to their pies and their customers. ''In 1985, Oronoque Orchards was destroyed by a fire. Although no longer available for sale, the pies were not forgotten by the many customers who had enjoyed them and the many fond childhood memories of visiting the original bakery in Stratford. In 1993, the Winton's daughter, Susan and her family reopened in the White Hills of Shelton under the name of Oronoque Farms. In 2004, new owners have moved in to carry on the Winton family traditions of their homemade pies and baked goods. Charlene and Jenette plan to continue, along with the help of Ronnie, the baker, and their families to make the same great pies that everyone remembers from their childhood. Shelton Oronoque Farms is open daily from 10am to 6pm, closed Mondays with extended hours on holidays.''
A definite must-stop for every pie conissuer is Cutie Pies Bakery located in Thomaston, Connecticut. '' Cutie Pies was a dream of co-owner Tanya Clark since she was 16 years old! On October 4, 2011 we opened the doors and have been unstoppable since! We do everything from custom cakes, cupcakes, brownies, cookies, pies, and so much more! Everyday our showcase has a variety of cupcake flavors (many made with freshly whipped cream), cakes, cheesecakes and pies made fresh for you for any occasion! With 250+ flavors, the cupcakes are always changing. From birthdays, graduations and smash cakes all the way to engagements, bridal showers and weddings! Since 2011, we have grown tremendously and do hundreds of weddings a year! In 2014 we added a CUPCAKE TRUCK to serve as a mobile expansion and offer our treats to the masses!''
Another legendary place you must try this season is Granny's Pie Factory located in East Hartford, Connecticut. ''We started Granny’s Pie Factory because we knew that traditions could be centered around a family table and special food; and because we wanted our pies to start new family traditions while still honoring the old. We pride ourselves on crafting each of our pies with care and baking them until they reach perfection because at our table, family is always welcome, but the food has to earn its place. Granny’s Pie Factory was founded in 2006 by Joan and Anton Harovas. While Joan was a newcomer to the bakery business, Anton had over 30 years of experience in restaurants, bakery and ice cream manufacturing, over 20 of which were spent focused entirely on pies.''
