I love using brain teasers in the classroom. They are highly engaging for kids and build critical thinking skills. You can use them as a time-filler or as morning work. Puzzles are a great way to get your students' minds warmed up before tackling academics.
One of my favorite brain teasers is this math-based visual puzzle:
It's a great task for third, fourth, or fifth grade students. I usually let my third graders work together on this one because it can be pretty challenging for kids that age.
