Holy Mackerels: Epic day of Mackerel fishing.
Today I went fishing with my friends Carlos and Allen on my 15ft Gregor. We launched out of the Santa Cruz boat ramp. It was an overcast day, but it was an epic fishing day. We mainly fished just right outside of the harbor entrance in 25 to 35 ft deep. I used sabiki rig, from size 4 to size 1. We jigged for mackerels and trolled to find them if the bites shut down. I just looked for the anchovy bait balls because most of the time, the mackerels chasing the bait balls to the top of the water. We caught many of them and most of them were Scad Mackerels and a few Pacific Mackerels. I had a great time fishing with an awesome group of friends. After the fishing trip, we went to my house to cook the mackerels. Please watch the cooking at the end.
