Grocery Shopping as a Vegan at Trader Joe's

Foods you can buy at Trader Joe's.

I recently started shopping at Trader Joe’s more often because of how convenient and inexpensive it is.

Trader Joe’s is a unique grocery store that sells all sorts of items, and they always have new products to try during the different seasons. The fall season at Trader Joe’s is my favorite, but overall, they’re a great store to shop at year round.

As a recent college graduate, I have a grocery budget that I like to stay within, and I have no problem at all staying within my budget while shopping here. Here are five healthy and affordable items that I like to buy.

Dill Pickle Hummus

I don’t know if you’ve ever tried dill pickle hummus before, but if you haven’t, you’re seriously missing out. The first time I heard of this hummus, I was a bit skeptical since I had never tried this flavor before.

I’m also not someone who loves pickles, so I wasn’t too eager to give this a try. However, one of my sisters bought it and I tried it, and I absolutely loved it. It has such a unique flavor, but it’s super yummy with carrots, pita bread, and on salads.

This dill pickle hummus is also only a few dollars, which isn’t bad at all for a hummus. Hummus is an item I buy weekly because of how tasty and easy it is to have as a snack. I like to eat hummus with toast, with pita bread, and in my nourish bowls.

Whole Wheat Pita Pockets

This next item is one of my favorite items to buy: pita pockets. I use to buy these all the time, and I’m glad that Trader Joe’s carries them. Whole wheat pita pockets are great because you can make pita pocket sandwiches, make a savory snack with hummus, or make a sweet snack by adding peanut butter and sliced banana.

These pita pockets are also only just a few dollars at Trader Joe’s, and it comes in a pack of six. It’s the perfect amount if you’re buying groceries for yourself, and it’s such a quick and easy snack to have throughout the day.

It’s also a great snack to bring on the go that isn’t super messy. Toast your pita bread, cut it up into triangles, and bring a side of hummus or peanut butter.

Whole Wheat English Muffins

This next item is another bread, but I have to include it because English muffins are one of my favorite types of bread to eat. I eat whole wheat bread from time to time, but I’m someone who prefers to eat English muffins.

If I don’t have oatmeal in the mornings for breakfast, I often opt to make an English muffin with avocado, bagel seasoning, and nutritional yeast. Or, if I’m in the mood for something sweet, I’ll add peanut butter, banana, and cinnamon to my English muffin.

This is a regular item on my shopping list, and if you’re a fan of English muffins like myself, then you should definitely give these a try.

Almond Flour Tortillas

Almond flour tortillas from Trader Joe’s is a more recent find of mine. I was looking at the different tortillas they sell and I stumbled upon these almond flour tortillas.

I really like almond and almond butter, which is probably why I like these so much. They come in a pack of 6 and are incredibly delicious.

I think they’re super tasty and definitely worth the money. They’re great for making burritos and it’s a quick and easy meal idea.

Cauliflower Gnocchi

This last item is a freezer item. I don’t know what it is about gnocchi, but I think that it’s super tasty. I always add pasta sauce, nutritional yeast, and veggies to my gnocchi and it’s the perfect lunch/dinner idea.

This gnocchi contains around 3 servings. If you’re buying food for one person, this is a super quick meal to make that tastes really good. It’s definitely worth trying next time you find yourself at a Trader Joe’s.

Trader Joe’s is one of my favorite places to shop at because of the affordability and the assortment of items they carry. They have all kinds of foods and specialty items during the different seasons, and there’s something for everyone there.

If you’re near a Trader Joe’s, I highly recommend trying out their dill pickle hummus, whole wheat pita pockets, whole wheat English muffins, almond flour tortillas, and cauliflower gnocchi. These are some of my favorite foods items from Trader Joe’s, and you might even find a new favorite food of yours there!
