Would you visit the famously haunted Ringling Estate in beautiful Sarasota, Florida?

Evie M.

I'll be really honest with you. I know there are tons of haunted spots around Florida and all sorts of wild things. From the moment I move there this is what I've loved most. But I am surprised how so many haunted locations keep seeming to pop out of thin air. I really didn't. Sarasota is stuffed with them.

The one that really caught my eye was the Ringling Estate, where John Ringling himself came to build the winter headquarters for the Ringling Brothers Circus.

And it's said to be super haunted?

How could I have not known about all this until now?

Why is the Ringling Estate considered to be so haunted?

John and Mable Ringling were the most famous residents Sarasota, Florida had to offer. They killed their 30-room Floridian winter paradise C'ad d'Zan, or "House of John". Built in 1927 with luxurious marble flooring and a stunning view of the Sarasota Bay, , C'ad d'Zan was the envy of Florida.

Despite it's years of service, by 1997, C'ad d'Zan was fully restored to its original 1920s look at today serves as a museum. Located at 5401 Bay Shore Rd Sarasota, FL 34243, save for Thanksgiving and Christmas, guests can spend a few days exploring the estate and learning all about the richest man in world at one point and the incredible Florida home he built.

(Also, Thursdays from 5-8 p.m. if you head to the art museum, you can enjoy discounted admission. Score.)

But what about the ghosts? What we all really want. According to many official sources and guests hoping to catch a paranormal experience with either John or Mabel, the ghosts are all over the estate. Many reports of guests experiencing cold spots and even seeing Mabel on the grounds have surfaced over the years.

As for John Ringling, he could be the ghost haunting either the Ringling Museum on the grounds or the estate itself. There's also the ghost of a young girl who apparently haunts one of the dormitories at the Ringling School of Art and Design. Also, the spirit of a circus priest from the 1920s is also very active.

What in the world is a circus priest BTW?

Can you take a ghost tour of the Ringling Estate

Fortunately for you the Ringling Estate is not shy about their haunted friends and welcome tours, though they do not offer their own (from what I can see). Also fortunately for you Sarasota happens to have tons of different companies offering tours and deals, like this one from Haunted Sarasota Ghost Tour that can get you up close and personal with the sprits and history of the Ringling Estate.

I will personally be booking a ghost tour and going to see the estate for myself. My only question is: Who's going with me?
