Super stores have taken over the world, and because of that I'm always on a search for smaller community grocery stores. But they tend to be more expensive and have the least amount of deals. We know shopping at different locations for different items always gives us better deals.
Marc's is a deep discount store, buying closeouts and wholesales throughout the world. In an interview said," that we keep everything lower in the store to keep prices down it's all about keeping prices down".
I haven't shopped at Marc's in 3 years, before the pandemic happened. Today was my first visit back. Let's walk through the store and see how things fair after the pandemic.
First, I would say that they keep the parking lot in top shape their carts are always put away and there's never any trash. They have 14 check out lanes but only two were open during my visit but the store wasn't busy but I don't think I've ever seen all of them open. And there is no self checkouts. I started canning in 2020 when the pandemic hit so it's nice to see canning supplies in the front of the store.
The closeout area has a nice variety of items, you can pick up anything from jewelry making items to lawn furniture. I buy flowers for the house bi-weekly, so I checked out the prices. Not as good as Trader Joe's, they ranged between $5.99 and $10 dollars but still not bad. There's a small produce department, it hasn't grown during the pandemic.
I'm a big fan of Bob's Red Mill products, so I was glad to see a big selection at this location. I would say make sure you check the expiration dates, some reviewers have stated that they have gotten home to find out they have expired food.
Marc's has a cold cut counter that consists of lunch meat, cheese, and gourmet salads. You won't be able to purchase seafood, beef or chicken at the counter, but next to the Cold Cut Deli there are prepackaged meats. Now the beverage area is probably the highlight of Marc's grocery store. No matter what you like to drink they have it, beer wine, juice, soda, enhanced water. I was in awe of the new set up, it definitely can run neck and neck with larger grocery stores.
I don't know what to say about the cereal aisle. It was wonderful to see 12 oz boxes of cereal and not all 18 Oz family sizes. But I wish they had more healthy cereals, that section was very minut . But it was a complete aisle with only cereal.
The greeting card and makeup aisles ran across entire one side of an aisle. And they have a nice size health department they carry Carex health brands. I forgot to check and see if they have baby formula. You would have to call and check.
Next up, the frozen food seem to be fully stocked, it was only one aisle. Marc's is a good place to come and get food that you can't find anywhere else. Lastly, the pet and the cleaning supply aisles carry some of the top of the line products, from Tide to refrigerated dog food.
I waited till after I wrote the article to check the reviews for Marc's. I didn't want it to influence what I wrote. I believe this store averages out as a decent store to shop at. All shopping, restaurants and experience places are going to take a dip in the reviews since the pandemic. So I wouldn't count Marc"s out. Remember everybody shopping experiences differ. I could love a store one year and never shop there again another year. I believe this store averages out as a decent store to shop at. I hope this helps you with your shopping experiences!
