UNLV Football: A game in South Bend suddenly looks a whole lot more winnable

Before the season, what would you say if I told you that a trip to South Bend was a winnable game for UNLV?

Probably something similar to what many fans think now after two straight blowout losses

But this is actually a winnable game. Not an easy game, but winnable. This year’s UNLV team is much improved. It’s also nowhere near the best Notre Dame team we have seen.

A road win against Notre Dame would be a massive statement by this up-and-coming UNLV program.

UNLV Vs. Notre Dame

UNLV will be traveling to South Bend to face Notre Dame for the first time. Although strangely enough, Notre Dame played a game in Las Vegas two weeks ago

Both teams have been inconsistent and surprising, but for different reasons.

Notre Dame is a disappointing 3–3 with two terrible losses. UNLV is a surprising 4–3, although they have struggled with injuries in the last two weeks.

Notre Dame’s struggles

3–3 is absolutely terrible by Notre Dame standards. But that’s no reason to underestimate them. They have looked great at times but are wildly inconsistent.

The big question is, which Notre Dame team will show up?

The team that beat 6–1 North Carolina and 4–3 BYU.

The team that lost to 3–3 Marshall and 2–4 Stanford.

Regardless of Notre Dame’s struggles, a win in South Bend would be huge for this UNLV program. Getting to 5–3 would leave them one game away from bowl eligibility and set up an interesting end to the season.
