G League basketball is officially ready to call Henderson home.

The Ignite started in Walnut Creek, California, and played home games in Las Vegas this past season. Now they are ready to call the Dollar Loan Center home.

The Dollar Loan Center seats 5,500 and is already home to the Henderson Silver Knights and the Vegas Knight Hawks.

The Ignite started as a truly unique concept. Unlike the rest of the G League, the Ignite is not tied to any specific NBA team. They exist with the sole goal of developing young prospects for the NBA Draft.

They are succeeding at their goal. In the past two seasons, the Ignite has produced 3 top-10 picks, Jalen Green, Jonathan Kuminga, and Dyson Daniels.

In addition to preparing players for the draft, they also aim to provide life skills training. That includes financial literacy education, community service, and scholarship opportunities.

What Is The G League?

For those who aren’t familiar with the G League, it’s the minor league system for the NBA. It also has some high-level basketball.

Many familiar names, including Seth Cury, Jordan Bell, Gary Peyton II, and Kendrick Nunn, have played in the G League.

The league currently features 29 teams. 28 of those teams are affiliated with an NBA team. The Ignite is the only team that isn’t.

Becoming a Sports Town

Henderson is a great place to live or visit if you like sports. It’s quickly becoming more and more of a sports town.

Henderson is the home to all of the following:

  • Las Vegas Raiders practice facility (NFL)
  • Las Vegas Aces headquarters (WNBA)
  • Vegas Knighthawks (Arena Football)
  • Henderson Siver Knights (Hockey)
