Santa Barbara, like most of Southern California, has some great restaurants

Eating out is great, but sometimes it gets a bad rap. The stereotype is that eating out equals unhealthy eating.

Thankfully times are changing; you don’t have to sacrifice health for convenience. It’s possible to eat great food in a great location that’s relatively healthy.

Boosie’s Kitchen is one of those places.

Bossie’s Kitchen

The building that Bossie’s Kitchen is located in is iconic. Anyone who lives in Santa Barbara is probably familiar with “Old Bossy.” Old Bossy is the cow that sat atop the building overlooking the intersection.

Unfortunately, the original plaster cow is no more. Someone thought it would be funny to tip her over

Since opening in 2019, chefs Lauan Herman and Christina Olufson have quickly become a valued part of the community. Their culinary talents are hard to overstate. They focus on delivering food made with seasonal, farmer’s market, and organic ingredients.

The menu is excellent at keeping things simple. Most of the menu consists of healthy food. They serve delicious salads and sandwiches, which are great for any occasion. They also serve plates with various grilled meat options if you’re looking for something heavier.

If you’re looking for a deal, their weeknight specials are worth trying.

People looking to enjoy an adult beverage with their meal won’t be disappointed. There are plenty of beer and wine options on the menu.

Picnic Boxes

One of the coolest parts of the menu is the picnic boxes. If you can’t or don’t want to dine at the restaurant itself, their picnic boxes are perfect for taking on a hike, picnic, or to your home.

Their picnic boxes include:

  • 2 half-sandwiches
  • 2 side salads
  • 2 cookies or donuts
