Sitting just 11 miles from Downtown Los Angeles, Pasadena has long been an idyllic suburban neighborhood.

But did you know that it has a burgeoning food scene? The Pasadena restaurant scene has made one of the strongest recoveries out of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Here are just four of the many great restaurants that make up the Pasadena restaurant scene.

Union Restaurant

Union is located right in the heart of Old Town Pasadena. It manages to feel both large and intimate at the same time.

The Italian menu is both simple and elegant. Union makes it a point to use nothing but sustainably raised meats and fish. There is a wide selection of hand-made pasta to choose from and plenty of wine choices to wash it all down with.

Most places in Pasadena close early compared to the rest of Los Angeles. Lucky Boy is one of the exceptions. Its late closing time makes it a go-to spot for night owls.

The menu includes many great burgers, sandwiches, and burritos. Most of the breakfast menu is served exclusively during breakfast time (6 am- 10:30 am), but their breakfast burritos are served all day.

Lucky Boy has two locations in Pasadena.

Pie’n Burger

Pie’n Burger has been a Pasadena mainstay since 1963. Burger places don’t last that long without serving high-quality food.

There are three burger options, beef, turkey, and vegetarian. Each option is served with homemade thousand island dressing, pickles, lettuce, and tomatoes.

While the burgers and pies are the stars of the menu, they also serve excellent breakfast food.

Maestro Restaurant

Maestro is a top-notch Mexican restaurant that specializes in Tequila and Mezcal. It’s so popular that it made the LA Times list of the “Best in the Southland.”

While the food is excellent, that’s not the only draw. The menu includes some genuinely amazing Tequila, Mezcal, cocktail, beer, and wine options.
