According to the newest CDC guidelines, people don’t need to wear a mask outdoors unless they are in a crowd.

So why is President Biden still wearing a mask outside?

Does the president think he knows better than the CDC?

And why do so many Los Angeles Residents still wear their masks outside?

Biden Advisor’s Reasoning

One of the president's senior advisers, Anita Dunn, gave a possible reason for Biden’s outdoor masking. According to her, the president wears his mask out of habit

“I myself found that I was still wearing my mask outdoors this week, because it has become such a matter of habit. I think the president takes the CDC guidelines very seriously. And he’s always taken his role as sending a signal to follow the science very seriously, as well.”-Anita Dunn

Should Biden Wear a Mask Alone Outdoors?

Should President Biden be wearing masks outdoors? There are good arguments on both sides.

Some people argue that the President is sending mixed signals by wearing a mask outside.

Should Los Angeles residents be masking outside? Well, that depends on if people follow the CDC’s guidance or the President's example.

It’s also important to remember that a big reason for recent changes in CDC guidelines is to offer people an incentive to get vaccinated. Why would people on the fence about vaccination get the shot if it doesn’t change anything?

Doing something out of habit is understandable. We have all developed Covid related habits over the last year, and some of those habits die hard.

There is also the fact that President Biden is an adult. Adults get to choose what they do with their bodies.

If wearing a mask more often than necessary makes you feel more comfortable, go for it.

Should Los Angeles Residents Wear a Mask Alone Outdoors? (My Opinion)

It’s worth remembering the CDC mask Guidelines are suggestions, not ironclad rules.

You’re an adult, so do whatever you want.

If you want to take off your mask outdoors, go for it. Especially if it helps you enjoy Los Angeles’s beautiful weather.

If wearing a mask makes you feel more comfortable, do it.

Whichever option a person chooses, please be kind and respect their decision.
