Evangelical Singer Sean Feucht Protests Disney’s “Gay Agenda”

Conservative Christianity Vs. “Woke” Disney

Remember Sean Feucht? He’s the Christian worship leader who held several huge no mask events in 2020 during the height of lockdowns in Los Angeles.

These “Let Us Worship” open-air concerts were meant as protests against what he saw as religious persecution when the government placed restrictions on gatherings, including religious gatherings, in an attempt to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Disney is now the enemy

Conservative Christians like Sean Feucht are furious at what they see as Disney’s about-face. How dare the supposedly “family friendly” House of Mouse acknowledge the existence of LGBTQ+ people? While LGBTQ+ activists are unhappy with Disney’s tepid response, which they see as too little, too late, Feucht accuses Disney of being a “Goliath” of the “gay agenda” and of “grooming our children.”

According to Feucht, Disney is no longer kid friendly or family friendly. The Christian Post reports that in a leaked video recently, Disney executive producer Latoya Raveneau revealed her “not-at-all secret gay agenda” of “adding queerness” to the “Proud Family” reboot. Furthermore, Disney production coordinator Allen March wants “canonical trans characters, canonical asexual characters [and] canonical bisexual characters” to have “stories where they can … be their whole selves.”

Won’t someone think of the children? Don’t worry, Sean Feucht is here!

Back in the closet with you!

Feucht promises to continue to hold protests at Disney properties “until things change.” By “change” he means that Disney should pretend that LGBTQ+ people do not exist. He would probably be happiest if all Disney characters were white cishet Americans.

In fact, Sean Feucht and all his ilk would probably be delighted if all LGBTQ+ people just went back in the closet. He doesn’t want to see or hear from us. He wants us to pretend we’re all straight cishets like him.

Conservative Christians like Feucht really really hate LGBTQ+ representation in TV and movies. They believe that impressionable children will see these characters and want to be gay too. I saw zero bisexual characters when I was growing up and somehow I’m bi anyway. Most LGBTQ+ people my age and older saw little to no LGBTQ+ characters while we were growing up. We aren’t queer because we’re copying someone else. It’s who we are.

Spiritual warfare

Sean Feucht and people like him need an enemy, and right now, that enemy is Disney. They see this as “spiritual warfare,” a battle for the souls of the children and the nation. In their minds, they are holy warriors.

I get it. I grew up in that world. I learned to quote “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places” (Ephesians 6:10-12).

However, Jesus came to be the Prince of Peace and taught us to turn the other cheek and to love our enemies as well as our friends. The Gospel is love, not war. Christians like Feucht are not following Jesus for there is no love in this kind of protest.
