Find some of Washington State's old growth forest at Grove of the Patriarchs

Grove of the Patriarchs can be found in Mount Rainier Park, near the town of Packwood. What a perfect day trip for the whole family! This trail is about as easy as it get's in this area, so if you're looking for something for the whole family; this is it! It's not even 2 miles roundtrip, with little to no elevation gain.

The moment you step foot on the path, you will find yourself surrounded by some of the beautiful old growth forest of Washington State. These wonderfully tall and powerful trees loom around you as you walk. There is something especially peaceful about these beautiful old trees; I feel so much respect for them.

Something fun about this trail is that it leads you to a suspension bridge that crosses the Ohanapecosh River! Once you cross over the path you are now on an island, surrounded by the river! Take a stroll on the beautifully built wooden pathways, and look up at the tall beautiful trees around you! They are massive!

If you brought lunch, the side of the river is a perfect place for it! It's about as pretty as it can get.
