Where has this place been my whole life? Or how is it that I have just now discovered it?! It's SO cool! McMenamins hotels are all around the state, and in Oregon too. What this company does is buys old school buildings and they revamp the heck out of them. They turn these old school buildings into incredible massive properties that include hotel, restaurant and bars. Yes, you read that right, multiple different bars on the grounds! This location even has a pool!
My friend and I arrived a bit late to McMenamins Anderson School pretty late,, so unfortunately the kitchen had closed for the evening. But we had some delicious beverages and I feasted my eyes on the beautiful grounds. We sat outside and were able to catch the last song being performed by the local performer of the week.
I had heard about this location, but it's just different being there. There is a ton of outdoor seating, it's crazy! And the lighting is so warm and there are fire pits burning. It had begun to rain, but there area umbrellas and gazebos to sit in. So it remained just as cozy. What a beautiful place to spend a few hours!
As you walk around the grounds, you pass by a separate bar, with pool tables and a few games. And then there is another separate bar you pass by as you're making your rounds. It is tiny and quaint and it will be the first bar I swing into on my next visit!
I am definitely going to start a plan to hit up the other McMenamins locations. And I'll make it there in time to eat some food, too! I'm in love with this place!
