Armed man barricaded in building during police standoff

At 7 am on Tuesday Los Angeles Police officers began a search in the area of 4th Ave & W Vernon Ave for a suspect described as a man armed with a gun.

The man was last seen wearing a white shirt.

Police moved to limit traffic in the area of 4th Avenue and West Vernon Avenue extending to 7th Avenue.

Additional police units were requested to respond to the scene.

The armed suspect was last seen near 6th Avenue & West Vernon Avenue, according to officers on the scene.

A similar incident with a nearby address was reported at 4311 5th Avenue involving an unconfirmed report of a man with a gun. It is unclear if this is related to the incident.

The armed suspect was last seen climbing through a window on the second floor of an unspecified building, according to an officer.

Crimes Involving Barricading

In February, a suspect was barricaded inside a store in Inglewood following a pursuit that began after he fired at police in South Los Angeles, according to a broadcast report.

May, a man who barricaded himself inside a home in Long Beach after he fired a gun as officers responded to reports of an assault, prompting officers to fire their weapons.

Last week, an assault suspect was taken into custody after barricading himself inside a vehicle behind a business in Studio City.
