Search for suspect following car chase in Downtown LA

Shortly after 1:15 am police were reported to be in pursuit of a newer-model black Land Rover Discovery heading eastbound on West 88th Street at South Vermont Avenue.

The cars then got on I-110 S.

Officers were following the vehicle along the I-10 eastbound from I-110 at approximately 90 miles per hour near W Pico Blvd & S Grand Ave.

At 1:27 am, police advised that the suspect abandoned their vehicle and ran away on foot.

Police are established a perimeter in the area to canvass for the suspect. It was reported that multiple units were on the scene near W Pico Blvd & S Hill St.

The suspect was described as a man. No further details were given at the time.

Shortly after the search began, police reported they had secured the Land Rover and requested a K-9 unit to aid in the search.

Citizen app user video showed officers searching the area as a helicopter flew overhead.

It is unknown whether or not the suspect was caught. If you have more information on this case, contact LAPD.

Just a few days ago on June 17, the Los Angeles Police Department reportedly began chasing the driver of a black Ford in the downtown Los Angeles area. The chase continued all the way to the North Hollywood area before the suspect hit a parked car and then ditched the van on Peach Grove Street. Fox LA reported the story.

No information on the June 23 story was reported on the LAPD Twitter accounts.
