Vero Beach is known as a quaint small town by the sea far away from the busy tourist hotspots like Orlando, Fort Lauderdale, Palm Beach and Miami. While these areas are known for diverse cuisine, hipster bars serving delectable drinks, Vero Beach also has some great places too. Since Valentine’s Day is coming up, let’s focus on some of the romantic restaurants on the beach. Let’s take a trip over the bridge spanning the Indian River and explore sumptuous and decadent dining options.

Cobalt, housed inside the Vero Beach Hotel & Spa, has an atmosphere at night that is cozy. If you decide to eat inside, they dim the lights to set the mood. You can opt to eat outside mere steps away from the beach and enjoy the cool ocean breeze and listen to the relaxing sound of the waves. After dinner, you can enjoy a nightcap alongside one of their firepits. Can’t decide between a juicy steak or seafood? They are known for both, so you don’t have to settle. You won’t want to miss their Waygu Steak Tartar with smoked oyster aioli, toasted brioche, quail egg.

In the mood for French or Italian? Why not have a bit of both at the same time at Di Mare. One side of the menu is French, and the other is Italian with a selection of dishes that will transport you back to your favorite European vacation destinations. At night, you dine by candlelight at tables dressed in crisp, white linen. There are three beautiful areas of the restaurant – the patio, main indoor dining room and in the bar – which is preferred by many of their regulars as it is particularly cozy. The beef carpaccio is absolutely divine, and the calamari is made from fresh squid – never frozen – and so tender it melts in your mouth. You’ll be hard pressed to order it anywhere else after you’ve had it here.

The Tides is considered the top restaurant beachside by many Vero Beach residents. Leanne Kelleher delivers an extraordinary dining experience on the regular and amps it up on Valentine’s Day for a truly romantic evening. This restaurant is housed in an Old Florida home which has an elegant, yet cozy feel. The filet mignon with melted gorgonzola and crispy bacon is a coveted favorite.

Let’s spice things up a bit and talk about The Wave ensconced within Costa D’Este. A gorgeous resort and spa that will make you feel like you are in South Beach, Miami in all its art deco splendor with Latin flair. This is a date night haven and an excellent place for a romantic Valentine’s dinner. The lights are low, candles are lit, it overlooks the palm tree lined pool, and music wafts through the air. The paella will transport you to Spain and the ceviche is not to be overlooked either as it is prepared and styled authentically. After dinner, head outside to the bar for some gorgeous drinks by the pool and firepit. Take in the sounds and smells of the ocean to end the night.
