COMPETITOR LISTS: Competitor Lists will be LIVE throughout the registration process and can be viewed by checking out the registrations tab on the event page. We encourage everyone to login by the last day of registration and check their details along with the competitor lists, and not wait until the brackets are published and locked in to confirm the details.

CHANGING DIVISIONS: After registration closes, all competitors (or coaches) have until 5PM the following day to make any changes to their registrations. You can make these changes by logging into your account and modifying your registration details. After this change deadline, the registration will become locked in, and there will be no further changes allowed. Competitors who are alone in their division should choose to either “self-move” up a division or cancel their registration for a full credit. If you have trouble changing your division, please use the link below: https://support.smoothcomp.com/article/89-how-to-change-weightclass-or-cancel

DIVISION MERGERS: After change deadline, competitors who do not have anyone in their division group may be merged with another division. All athletes who remain solo in their divisions once brackets are released means they had no default merges available to them, and therefore there are no matches available for that competitor. They will receive a full coupon credit for entry to any future event of ours.

REFUND POLICY: Refunds and Credits can be obtained by logging into your account and canceling your event registration. Competitors who do not have a bracket or their opponent no shows day of the event will receive a full coupon credit. “No show” credit only applies if you have no matches for the day.

BRACKETS and SCHEDULE: 48 hours prior to the tournament, the event brackets and schedule will be released. You will be able to locate both on the event page brackets and schedule tab. All Element Grappling tournaments will have a 65 inch TV displaying the LIVE schedule by match order happening on each mat. A courtesy call using a microphone will be made if you are not present at the mat prior to your division starting. Please be at the mat on time for your matches. We ask that you make sure to be present in the venue at least 60 minutes prior to your division start time as division times can change. Element Grappling BJJ-ADCC 2022 West Coast Trials

Element Grappling-Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Head Instructor Gregory Raffield competed at ADCC trials this weekend and had an awesome showing! Greg competed in the 88kg weight class with a bracket size of 256. Coach Greg Secured a Heel Hook in the first match in under 42 seconds! The inside Heel Hook has been a go to move for Greg. The second match Coach Greg took his opponents back off a while timed Kimura. After securing the body triangle Greg moved to finishing his opponent via a very tight strangle hold, his opponent had good defense and wrist control but ultimately Greg was able to sink in a very deep figure four grip and his opponent tapped quickly. Moving all the way from the 256 bracket to spot number 64, Greg's last opponent for the day was a tough Brown Belt. The match was a tough one with Greg taking a brutal head butt to the face almost sending his front teeth through his lip. Despite the blood, Greg kept going after his opponent with some good attacks, his opponent scored a guard pass and ultimately decided that was enough to win the fight. Matches like this often see tactics employed as mentioned above. Sometimes it is better to "play the game" then to submit your opponent. Despite the loss of the third match, Greg had a great showing and everyone at Element Grappling-Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is super proud of him! To be gracious in victory and defeat is the greatest accomplishment any combat athlete could strive for! If you are following the No-Gi Brazilian Jiu Jitsu scene be on the look out Coach Greg and all the other competitors from Element Grappling-Brazilian Jiu Jitsu! If you are in Fayetteville NC or the surrounding area make sure to come check out the gym!
