Virginia Beach, VA - The recovery of the vehicle that plunged off the Virgina Beach Pier continue while the crews face rough ocean conditions.

The crash took place during the early hours on Saturday. The initial report came in at 6:52 a.m. for a vehicle that went through the end of the wooden pier off 15th Street at the Oceanfront. The driver is presumed dead, and plans for vehicle removal are still in progress. With the assistance of Croton Industries, in Portsmouth, Virginia Beach Police have been operating carefully to maintain the crime scene and gain visibility as the vehicle is underwater. It is unknown how many passengers are in the vehicle.

The police revealed that the reported incident involving a missing man shares striking similarities with Saturday's crash at the Virginia Beach Fishing Pier but the individuals identity remains undisclosed. While authorities could not confirm any connection between the two cases, salvage operations have yet to unveil the license plate number on the submerged SUV.

This story is still developing.
