OKLAHOMA CITY, OK. - On Wednesday, Oklahoma City Police arrested two men on charges of prostitution. Karim Ahmed, 25, and David Corman, 28, were taken into custody at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott in Edmond.
According to police, these arrests resulted from an undercover investigation conducted by the OKCPD Vice Unit. An officer responded to an online escort ad and contacted both men. Each agreed to provide a sexual service in exchange for cash, leading to their arrest.
The Vice Enforcement Officer first made contact with the suspects through an online platform before meeting them at the Edmond hotel. Both men were then taken into custody without incident and transported to the Oklahoma County Detention Center.
Oklahoma is known for having some of the strictest laws regarding prostitution and solicitation in America, with penalties ranging from fines up to life in prison for repeat offenders or those convicted of sex trafficking-related crimes.
This case highlights why it is consequential for law enforcement to be proactive in protecting people from being forced into a life of exploitation or abuse.
This recent arrest also serves as a reminder that prostitution can be dangerous and lead to heavy punishments if caught engaging in such activities illegally. Selling sex is against the law. It does not matter if it is online, in a newspaper, on the street, or in any other place. If someone does this, they can get in big trouble. This could mean paying a lot or going to jail for a long time.
The two suspects are held without bail until a judge sets trial dates. If found guilty, they could face serious penalties, including steep fines, probation, or even jail time, depending on each individual’s background and criminal history.
The Oklahoma City Police Department is dedicated to protecting its citizens from illegal activity such as prostitution. It encourages anyone with information about possible criminal activity involving minors or adults to contact them immediately to take swift action against those responsible for these offenses.
We must all do our part to help keep our communities safe so that individuals are not subjected to exploitation or harm from illicit activities like this.
