New $146 one-way fares offered from San Francisco Bay Area to Central America's '45 minute country'

It has been called Central America's 45-minute country. In 45 minutes, you can be at the beach, in the city, or in the mountains. The country is El Salvador and Avianca Airlines is starting seasonal service from Oakland International Airport in December with fares starting at $146 one-way.

El Salvador's preident Nayib Bukele has boasted that El Salvador is Central America's safest country noting that since taking office, crime dropped by 75% which as reflected in Bukele's approvoal ratings which are over 90%. Another plus for American travelers, El Salvador uses American currency so no money exchange is needed.

“We are delighted to introduce these new seasonal routes, which will significantly enhance the connectivity between the United States and Central America,” said Rolando Damas, Avianca Airline's country officer in the United States and sales director for North America, Central America and the Caribbean. “At Avianca, we recognize the profound significance of bringing families together and making travel more accessible. Our new seasonal routes reaffirm our commitment to connecting loved ones and facilitating seamless journeys across continents.”

The Oakland/San Salvador flights will begin on Dec. 13 with service from Oakland to San Salvador on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. San Salvador to Oakland service will also be on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. The Avianca flight will leave Oakland at 11 p.m. It departs from San Salvador at 5:45 p.m. The flight time is about 6 hours.
