The San Francisco District Attorney’s Office has charged Sequoia Dunkinsell 32, in connection with a naked rampage on the Bay Bridge where she fired multiple shots at cars before being taken into custody. The shooting happened near the Bay Bridge toll plaza on July 25, 2023.

Dunkinsell was arraigned on August 1, 2023. The nude shooter pleaded not guilty to all charges and allegations. Dunkinsell is charged with shooting at an occupied vehicle (PC 246), making criminal threats (PC 422), three counts of assault with a semi-automatic firearm (PC 245(b)), one count of negligent discharge of a firearm (PC 243.6), four counts of brandishing a firearm (PC 417.3), one count of possession of a loaded firearm (PC 25850(a)), and one count of reckless driving (VC 23103).

“I am grateful that there was no loss of life in connection to this incident and to the California Highway Patrol for successfully de-escalating, disarming and apprehending Ms. Dunkinsell,” said District Attorney Brooke Jenkins. “The incident on the freeway was terrifying and endangered the lives of countless commuters. We will do everything in our power to ensure that there is appropriate accountability.”

Police say Dunkinsell drove recklessly on eastbound Interstate 80 before exiting her vehicle, naked, and firing shots into the air and at passing vehicles. The harrowing incident occurred at approximately 4:40 PM during rush hour. It snarled traffic for commuters trying to get to Oakland and other parts of the East Bay. The California Highway Patrol arrested Dunkinsell just before 6:00 PM on the Bay Bridge.

Dunkinsells next court date is August 11, 2023. The nude shooter’s preliminary hearing will be held at that time. The court set no bail and she is currently in San Francisco County Jail. Prosecutors say if Dunkinsell is convicted of all charges, and all allegations are found to be true, faces more than 22 years in State Prison.
