On my way home from San Diego, I was so hungry I had to stop to eat. I got off the freeway and I yelped the nearest places. I was really in the mood for fried chicken. I saw that Poultrygram had just opened at the Irvine Spectrum. They also have locations in San Jose, Hollywood, and Brea. This location is sharing space with Umami Burger next door to the Improv. I ordered online from the parking lot, but there is a small tent and table out front where you can order in person and pick up your order.

I usually gravitate towards chicken tenders, but that day I was so hungry I wanted the chicken sandwich. I ended up getting a combo with the steak fries and a drink. As I walked up to the front of the table, I saw the manager showing a chicken sandwich to a customer. It looked so amazing I ordered 3 more combos for my best friends who I would be meeting later. After I ordered I had a few minutes of buyers remorse. I had not even tried it. But I would later find out there was no reason to worry.

Since there was no outdoor dining (it has since been opened). I opened the bag as soon as I got to my car. As I said earlier, I was starving and there was no way I would be able to wait the 20 minutes until I got home. The sandwiches come well packaged in cardboard boxes which surprisingly kept them warm and the fried chicken stayed super crunchy. The sandwich itself is simple. Brioche bun, large buttermilk fried chicken breast, coleslaw, coleslaw, and house sweet pickle relish. I opened up the first box and the sandwich was really large. I was in total awe that the chicken was not super greasy. I took my first bite, and I was in heaven. There was the perfect ratio of bread to fried chicken to coleslaw. I was impressed. I even liked the steak fries. I am not usually a fan of a thick cut fry, but these were super crispy on the outside and pillowy tender on the inside.

When I go back, I want to try their spicy wings, and the buttermilk fried chicken tenders. They look almost the size of the chicken sandwich!

I would definitely recommend trying Poultrygram.
