Visiting Superman's Hometown

If you're a fan of the Man of Steel, you must visit his hometown of Metropolis, Illinois. This town is the official home of Superman and has become a mecca for comic fans. The city has a variety of Superman-related attractions and events, and visitors from all over the world come to celebrate this legend.

The first Superman Festival was held in 1978. Fans can participate in costume contests at the festival and watch films with Q&A sessions. Guests can also check out Superman's museum and the world's most significant piece of "kryptonite."

The Superman Museum is the home of nearly 20,000 items related to the Man of Steel. Fans can also see props from Christopher Reeve's Superman films. Several exhibits include the Power Crystal from the '79 movie. A collection of Superman action figures and promotional materials from his films is also available.

One of the most popular attractions in Metropolis is the Superman statue. This two-ton monument stands in the downtown area. It's located at the intersection of Fifth and Market Streets. During holidays, it wears a giant Santa hat.

Metropolis is a fun destination for people of all ages. Visitors can enjoy the town's casino, river-shipping industry, and outdoor attractions. In addition to all the Superman-related attractions, the city hosts world-renown events. You can catch live music and dance performances and visit the underwater Boeing 727 airplane nearby.

The Metropolis Superman Celebration has been a popular event held each year since it began. It typically draws 25,000 visitors to the town.
