In order for us to build a life that is both stable and rewarding, we have to have the finances to do it. Money plays a big part in our ability to pursue happiness, and we look up to the wealthy in this world with both jealousy and awe. Material goods make a difference, and having money gives you access to opportunities that can truly change your life (and your perspective).

Building a wealthy and abundant life isn’t an accident, though. It occurs — for most — through a combination of both hard work and mental transformation. The way we think about money has a lot to do with our ability to manifest in our lives. When you dig beneath the walls, you keep putting around an abundant life, you often discover that you’re the one getting in the way.

Getting rich requires changing our mindset.

We get in our own way every day. We do it through our emotions, our behaviors, and even the decisions that we make. The biggest hurdle that we often create for ourselves, though, is composed of the negative thoughts that we allow to become a life-controlling narrative. These thoughts include degrading ideas on self, and toxic beliefs about money and wealth. We often think we aren’t deserving of a financially stable life, or that we don’t have what it takes to succeed. Nothing could be more wrong.

For us to create a wealthy life for ourselves, we first have to change our mindset. This is the foundation on which we will stage every action we take next. You need to believe in yourself and know that you are just as deserving and as capable as any millionaire or billionaire in the world.

The only difference between you and every self-made top earner in the world is a decision. They made the decision to jump out of their comfort zones, and they made the decision to take what they wanted for themselves. Are you ready to make the same investments in yourself? Are you ready to take a leap of faith and let go of the limiting ideas that are keeping you stuck in a middle class wealth trap that doesn’t give you the freedom that you need to thrive? Start on the inside and work your way out.

The 8 beliefs which can keep you from getting rich.

Your mindset has everything to do with your ability to accumulate wealth. Do you think that you don’t have the skills to build something for yourself? Have you decided you’re not good enough, or worthy enough? Until you change these beliefs and replace them with positive ones — you’ll be absolutely right. Kick these kinds of beliefs to the curb so you can create opportunities to earn.

“I'll get rich if I just work harder.”

The wealthiest self-made people in the world did not get that way by working for other people. Even if their journey started out in someone else’s business, at some point they realized that they had to make opportunities of their own. You need to make your own money, and it doesn’t always have to be a painful slog (even if it does require a lot of work). You can’t build an abundant and controlled life for yourself when you’re chasing that dream for someone else.

"Getting rich changes you.”

Are you someone who subscribes to the idea that money changes you? Many believe that the act of accumulating wealth deteriorates who you areas a person. This change is a choice, though, and one which cannot be blamed on an inanimate object. As humans, we are always changing and growing. If we become a nastier or more shallow person with abundance, then that is the choice that we make. Money can’t change our personality. We decide how we behave, believe, and react.

“I have to save every penny.”

Saving is one of the ways in which we are able to build wealth for ourselves, but saving alone can’t get you where you need to go. While it’s certainly important to build a safety net for the rainy days ahead, you also need to learn the value of spending it and using your money alongside calculated risks. We can’t be so controlled by our fear of scarcity that we forget to pursue true happiness with the fruits of our labor.

“Being rich makes your life harder.”

Have you ever held the thought that money makes life harder or more complicated? This is a common belief and one of the most ridiculous that we use to talk ourselves out of abundance. Of course more money doesn’t make your life harder. It may add more facets to your life, but it also brings more conveniences with it too. Not least of which is the peace of mind which comes with being able to pay your bills without checking your bank account all the time.

“The goals is settling for comfort.”

There are some people in this life who reach a certain plateau of comfortand then stay there. That’s fine if it truly supports you and brings you peace. Being comfy is an okay place to be, but it’s never quite safe. That’s because the comfortable life doesn’t necessarily offer a cushion for big events or disasters. It simply provides for us in the moment with no chance to really expand or grow. Can you pursue everything that makes you happy from a comfortable place?

“It's all about playing it safe.”

Just as we tend to believe that saving is the only point of high earning, we also tend to think that we must play it safe with our money at all times. This, unfortunately, comes from a scarcity mindset. The wealthiest people on this planet use their wealth to acquire more wealth. This isn’t done just through the purchase of a couple of properties. Sometimes, you have to take calculated risks with your money in order to score the big wins. It’s a delicate balance.

“I don't deserve to be rich.”

We’ve been taught to believe this completely ridiculous idea that the rich are somehow more deserving than we are. A lot of this comes from our Protestant roots (in the west) which instilled in us this belief that the Heavens bestowed material wealth on those who proved themselves to be deserving. That’s not how reality works, though. We don’t get rich just because we deserve it (we all deserve to be rich). We establish wealth for ourselves when we take action.

“Only smart people get rich.”

Have you ever thought to yourself, “I’m not smart enough to be rich,” or something similar? There’s this idea that only those with exceptional skills can be top earners and great successes, but that just isn’t true. We all have different skills and abilities which are valuable to someone. Intelligence rarely plays into it. In fact, it’s arguable that emotional intelligence plays more of a role.

How to change these beliefs and cultivate wealth in 2021.

You’ve got to let go of all these erroneous wealth beliefs once and for all. There’s enough in this world for everyone to have a comfortable life which allows them to pursue their happiness. Accept your right to abundance, take control of your future, and then develop a plan of action and routine. Little-by-little you’ll be able to manifest new opportunities for yourself.

1. Embrace your right to abundance

Everyone on this planet deserves to be given the resources they need to thrive and pursue their authentic happiness. We get really caught up in the superficial narratives of our western societies, in which we are taught that is only the highly skilled, and the highly accomplished who can make a life for themselves. This just isn’t true. We live in an age of e-Sport millionaires. Everyone deserves abundance, and there’s plenty of it out there for grabs.

You deserve to have the quality of like that you want. If material abundance makes you feel happier in life (and your accomplishments) — then that is what you deserve to have. There is enough in this world to go around, and you are more than good enough to be a part of whatever world you desire to be in.

Believe that you deserve abundance. Believe that you are not only capable of achieving wealth, but that you are also someone who is worthy of it. Until you cement this mindset, it will be impossible for you to break out of the cycles that keep you chained to other people and systems which will never provide for you. Once you realize what you’re deserving of, you’ll stop settling for the life that was never meant for you.

2. Take control of your future

At some point, you’re going to have to decide to take control of your future if you truly want to establish an abundant life. You can’t work forever toward someone else’s happiness and expect yours to also be met. We are the only ones looking out for ourselves. If the company you work for were to close tomorrow, would they go out of their way to make sure you and your family are secure until the next job comes around (and you’re stable)? If you want that security, you need to give it to yourself.

Stop waiting for the world to provide you with abundance “in good faith”. That’s not how reality works. If we want big success, we have to make a major investment in ourselves. We have to seek to grow. We have to believe in our ability to learn, pivot, and move with the flow and energy of whatever space or market we inhabit.

You have everything you need to get it together. You have all the skills and mental abilities that you need to become that higher earner; that big success. You’re going to have to get clear on what that success looks like, though, and you’re going to have to make the decision to act. Manifesting this kind of life only happens through direct and focused action. We have to work on ourselves every day, as well as the business and ideas we want to pursue.

3. Build on top of a good routine

Humans — at their core — are simple creatures. We have a lot of emotions that we have to learn to regulate, and we like things that are predictable because we associate them with safety. That’s why a routine can be so successful as an early part of building a financially successful life. It comforts us; it calms us, and it allows us to focus on more important aspects of our lives. Routine can also help us organize our lives and our goals more effectively.

Build routines which allow you to move through life and work much easier. Stable routines calm us, as we are humans and therefore predictable creatures of habit. They can provide you with a peace of mind, but they can also free up space in your brain to focus on other tasks.

Minimize the thoughts you have to put in to day-to-day living. Establish routine for work, for school, for your family. If there are tasks, you have to accomplish or goals you want to get mastered, then routines can help you clear the murky waters and figure out what direction to go in first. Start with your morning routine and don’t be afraid to make adjustments where needed. Be compassionate with yourself when you backslide.

4. Figure out self-discipline

If you want to achieve at a high level, you’re going to have to master your sense of self-discipline. This self-discipline is the internal motivation and control you feel. It allows you to prioritize your tasks, and it allows you to wade through the time wasting. When you’re self-disciplined, you can see the bigger picture. You understand that a sacrifice now means greater time to enjoy yourself later. You know that things worth valuing require work.

Master the art of self-discipline. Get focused on what you want from life and then get busy making it happen by creating a plan of action. Break things down into smaller, more manageable tasks or “chunks” that you can attack one-at-a-time.

When you’re in work mode, limit the distractions and keep yourself focused. Drop the procrastination and know that the longer you hold out against abundance, the harder it will be to achieve. Now is the time for you to make moves in the name of your success and your happiness. Stop allowing yourself to go backwards to people and to habits that don’t bring you where you need to be. Get things done and do them now so that you can enjoy your life later.

5. Manifest more opportunities

The biggest self-made earners in the world are not people who waited around for life to hand them what they wanted. They made a plan of action and they made moves. They figured out their vision and got specific about what they wanted. All of this enabled them to create realities that were entirely their own. Their ideas fuel our technology, or schools, and even the science that feeds into our health sectors.

Do you want to live abundantly? Stop waiting for life to provide you with opportunities and make some of your own. Manifest your own open doorways. Make space for yourself in the industries that attract and intrigue you. Carve out headway in a place where someone like you has never been before.

We don’t have to wait for someone to open the door on wealth for us. Just as all the other self-made millionaires and billionaires decided to take what they wanted, you have to decide to do the same. Let go of all the negative and limiting beliefs that are both outdated and nonsensical. You have the power to get out of your way and achieve success. You’ve got to make the decision to make a move, though, and you have to follow through in the name of your needs.

Putting it all together…

When it comes to creating a wealthy life, our limiting or negative thoughts are usually one of the biggest hurdles we have to confront. So many of us never build a life of abundance because we don’t think we deserve it, or we don’t think we’re capable of it. Everyone is capable of building more for themselves, they just have to make the decision to take it. Are you ready to take a chance on yourself and create enough wealth to thrive? Change your mindset and take action.

Know that you deserve abundance, and that you are capable of achieving and managing wealth no matter where you come from. There’s enough for everyone. Embrace this and make a commitment to taking control of your future. You’ll never make the millions that you seek serving someone else’s future. You need to establish one for yourself; one which is aligned to your core truths and values. Create a routine, and through this a plan of action. Master the art of self-discipline and tackle your goals by conquering your time management and prioritization skills. Wealth isn’t something that happens by accident to the self-made. They are successful because they demand of themselves and they manifest it through action. Do the same and create opportunities of your own whenever a door closes to you.
